The route leads from the medieval town centre to the remains of the once‑mighty Kamnik fortress, Stari grad. The journey begins at Glavni trg in Kamnik. Cross the Maister Bridge and turn right, then continue along the Kamniška Bistrica River until you reach a larger crossroads. Turn left towards the Kamnik Health Centre and then right again, passing the Rudolf Maister Grammar and Secondary School.
The route continues towards Zgornje Palovče, where you follow the sign for Stari grad, which directs you left off the main road. Due to the steep incline and the somewhat rough road surface, this route is best suited for cyclists in good physical condition. The summit rewards you with a stunning view of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps and the town of Kamnik.
