Active Relaxation for Seniors in Tuhinj Valley

Tuhinj Valley, which stretches beneath Menina Mountain and encompasses the valleys of Nevlje and Motnišnica, is a true oasis of relaxation in the embrace of forests and unspoiled nature. Terme Snovik is located in the village of Snovik, just a short distance from the Slovenian capital, as well as Kranj and Celje. As the highest-lying spa in Slovenia, it is surrounded on one side by the Kamnik-Savinja Alps and on the other by beautiful forests. Our greatest treasure is the healing thermal water, which was discovered long ago by the locals. They often visited the freely flowing water at the homestead 'at Kovač' and took it home for drinking and washing. Our water contains calcium and magnesium, as well as many other beneficial minerals. Apartment Complex

You will be accommodated in a 4* apartment complex on the edge of the forest, which stretches above the thermal complex and is built from natural materials, allowing for a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere in the apartments and rooms with a calming view of the green valley and surrounding mountains. 

A walking path leads through the complex for a short morning stroll before you head down to the Potočka restaurant for a diverse buffet breakfast with an emphasis on local ingredients, honey, dried fruits, juice, butter, yogurts, homemade bread, especially sought-after buckwheat bread with walnuts, which you can spread with homemade spreads, most often made with herbs and vegetables from our own vegetable and herb garden. With a rich breakfast, you will gather energy for daily relaxing activities, for which your health will be very grateful.

Swimming in Thermal Water Pools

The thermal pool complex consists of an indoor and outdoor pool with a natural grassy beach. The water in the indoor pool is 32 °C, while the massage pool is 36 °C. The outdoor pool has a water temperature ranging from 26 °C to 28 °C. In the water, you will relax your body, activating all muscles, as swimming is one of the best sports activities. Our body is made for movement, which is why our friendly animators encourage you daily to join guided water aerobics sessions that take place every day. Massages and Kneipp Treatments

For complete relaxation of the body, we will choose together the most suitable massage or treatment for full-body relaxation. In the small world of saunas, three types of saunas are available – Finnish, Turkish, and ice sauna.

Terme Snovik is also the only Kneipp center in Slovenia, and you will have the opportunity to get to know it during your stay through the five pillars established by Sebastian Kneipp, a German priest and water and phytotherapist. To maintain the health of the body and spirit, he defined the connection of five elements: water, herbs, movement, nutrition, and a healthy lifestyle. Having cured himself of tuberculosis in his youth by bathing in the cold Danube, he decided to dedicate his life to healing people with natural elements. Kneipp's life philosophy is simple and suitable for everyone.

Authentic Connection with Nature – Barefoot Like in Childhood

During your stay in the complex, we invite you to a special Kneipp barefoot experience along the award-winning Best Thematic Path of 2018. We guarantee that you will awaken childhood memories of running barefoot in your home yard and nearby meadows while being in touch with the earth and nature.

The barefoot experience includes: introduction to Kneipp's philosophy, natural reflex massage, testing Kneipp's hydrotherapies, a tasty Kneipp surprise, guided relaxation, and a test of all five senses (smell, sight, hearing, touch, and taste). The barefoot path is equipped with twelve exercise elements. The path runs through meadows, sand, forests, and other natural materials. The small muscles of the feet will strengthen on the softness of grass, bark, soil, sand, and even water stones. Along the way, you can also perform other Kneipp therapies in the natural environment, such as stork walking and hand baths. Together we will discover the beneficial effects of herbs in our own herb garden. A delicious snack made exclusively from local delicacies awaits you along the way.

Diverse Activity Program

The picturesque, green, and hilly surroundings of Terme Snovik will surely entice you to enjoy fresh air in the nearby area during your stay. The surrounding hills are suitable for hikers and cyclists who will be delighted by the beauty of unspoiled nature. Throughout the year, we prepare an attractive animation program with guided hikes in the area. You can always adjust all your activities to your capabilities. For independent exploration of the surroundings, Nordic walking poles are available for free rental at the reception, or you can rent an electric bike for easier climbing. 

Snovik is also an excellent starting point for visiting Velika Planina, Arboretum Volčji Potok, the source of Kamniška Bistrica, Menina Mountain, and St. Nicholas. In Kamnik, you can see cultural landmarks, visit the Mekinje Monastery, and stroll through the old town center. Throughout the year, we invite you to join numerous events organized by the Tuhinj Valley Tourist Association, which not only promotes the valley and connects locals but also preserves crafts and traditions.
